Advantages and disadvantages of B2 material steel ball
B2 material composition: C 0.75-0.85 Mn 0.7-0.9 Si 0.17-0.35 Cr 0.4-0.60 S<0.035 P<0.035 (The composition produced by different steel mill is slightly different, basically within this range)
Diameter 20mm-80mm, hardness: 60-65HRC, the hardness difference between surface and core of the steel ball is very small, it is suitable for mills of all diameters.
Diameter 100mm-140mm, hardness should below 60HRC, as it contains too much carbon, brittleness is worse than other materials, It is easy to break. It is not suitable for mills with a diameter of more than 6 meters.
If you need large steel ball with high hardness, recommend you to choose B3 material.
special attention:
Don't pursue the surface hardness more than 60 HRC when steel ball Ф≥100mm ( B2 material), the steel ball is prone to breakage, and numerous scenes prove it.
Ball mills Ф≥ 5-6m, select B2 material carefully, especially steel balls Ф≥80mm . As it contains too much carbon, brittleness is worse than other materials, It is easy to break.
If Ф≥80mm, pay attention to the steel mills. Steel must be supplied by a large steel mill to meet the standards.
Steel balls must be electrically tempered. It is better to ask the manufacturer to provide you with a photo of the steel material sheet and the company's tempering furnace.
The price difference of B2 materials is roughly between $7 and $45 in China. If the price is lower than the market price by $45, quality may not be guaranteed.
